about

Art and creativity has been an important part of Sara Sweetland’s life for as long as she can remember - ‘I have painted and stitched all my life thanks to a wonderfully creative mother, who filled my childhood with making things’. She studied art history at university and then went on to work in some of England’s great historic houses - building and managing their commercial businesses - shops, restaurants, weddings, private and public events, and hotels. Although still involved in the historic house world, Sara now devotes most of her time to her art.

Sara’s work pulls together three of the things she particularly loves - flowers, ceramics and pattern. Flowers in all their glory, are the central theme of her paintings. Magnificent historic gardens have been a backdrop to Sara’s working life and provide huge inspiration, as do the flowers she grows on her North Buckinghamshire allotment.
